Friendship is most difficult because it does not in fact last, at least not in the way we thought it would, swore it would, when we were younger. Aristotle already noted this in his Ethics, but he is hard to believe when we are young. We change. Our fiends change. Friends must grow proportionately together, though perhaps not in the same ways. And when we or our friends take certain options, certain choices, we can no longer abide with them, since friendship is primarily a sharing of truth and goodness. The ancients were mostly right. I suspect that if by the time we reach fifty we have two or three friends, we are lucky.

A New Blog of Note
I would like to think I have spent some good time on the internet, and that I have consequently had a chance to read and/or review some of the better blogs. Verily, I have become something of a blog expert (I have a letter from Al Gore proving it).
When I recommend a blog, then, it should indicate to others to bookmark or link to it as I have done the work of reviewing its content already. That said, I have a new blog to recommend: take your time reading it, drop the author(s) a note, and welcome them to the blogosphere:

She's So Serious
Say hello to my dear friend, the godmother of my wife, Carrie Gress. Carrie writes for ZENIT News Agency's English edition, and is its Chief Editor in Rome. See here for a little more about Carrie.Does this mean we can come for a visit?
Actually, I know we'd be welcome. We miss our friend.
