You and I have a "guardian angel." Presumably, you have asked yourself just what an angel is; but, what of the other side? Just what, exactly, is your guardian angel guarding? Might I be so bold as to suggest, along with the Tradition of the Church, it is your salvation?
We often hear people invoking a guardian angel for physical events - protection against physical calamities and assaults. These are relevant, of course, but far more important is one's spiritual protection against those things that assault our souls. The mystery of what is to one's soul's benefit and what is to its harm is known to God alone, or to whom He chooses to reveal it. It is this mystery the guardian angels serve.
