Confession

I made it to confession yesterday, after avoiding it for too long again. For penance, the priest asked me to meditate on the last line of the Gospel for this week's readings (Latin rite):

This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.

I awoke this morning thinking about it again: after his Son receives the sacrament of baptism, God the Father expresses his pleasure. After receiving absolution through the sacrament of penance, God the Father is pleased with a penitent for returning into the family.

Yes I knew this; but nevertheless . . . of course!
